What is a foot healthcare professional?

A Foot Healthcare Professional keeps people’s feet healthy and gives advice on day to day foot care to ensure they are well kept into old age. As people are living longer today, more care is required to keep them healthy and comfortable. The conditions that a Foot Health Professional would treat include corns, calluses, warts and fungal infection, verruca, diabetes foot concerns are also dealt with. FHP’s are also expected to carefully trim nails and prevent nail problems developing.

What happens at the consultation?

At your first consultation, the Foot Healthcare professional will take a full medical history and do basic tests such as checking the blood circulation and feeling in your feet. They may also check the way you walk and move your lower leg joints. They will discuss your concerns with you and then make a diagnosis and treatment plan. 

Usually any minor problems that are picked up can be treated on the spot including Nail trimming and the removal of hard skin, corns and calluses any Fungal Nail encountered will be checked and a course of treatments will be booked for any further treatments required.

Follow up treatments - (45 mins) £25

Ian qualified from the SMAE Institute (Founded in 1919, the longest running independent provider of training in Foot Health in the UK) in 2001 and ran a successful business as a foot healthcare professional in the Dover area and surrounding villages for five years. In 2006 Ian left the UK to work overseas across Europe. Ian has now returned to the UK to live again in the Dover area. Having re-qualified with the SMAE Ian is now re-establishing his foot healthcare business keen to relieve his clients of the pain and discomfort associated with foot healthcare issues
